Cisco have announced their Jabber Video beta service will reach end-of-life on 20 November 2015. This means any VC calls to interviewees, external organisations or patients which currently use the software client (they will have ****@jabber.com addresses) will not be possible after that date.
You can continue to use the service until 20 November but after that date you will no longer be able to make video calls. Please be aware that from 17th February no new jabber.com accounts can be created.
N.B. The end-of-life for the free Cisco Jabber Video service does not impact the NHS Scotland corporate Jabber client in any way. For example, from 16th May calls to joe.bloggs@jabber.com will fail whereas calls to jane.bloggs@vc.scot.nhs.uk will continue to work.
We envisage deploying Jabber Guest for NHSS use once we have completed thorough testing and trials to assess its suitability. NHSS staff would probably issue invitations, in the form of emails, to the third parties we wish to contact. This email will contain a one-time link which can be used to contact the NHSS user.
