What is Near Me?

NHS Near Me logoNear Me is a web-based platform that helps health and social care providers, local authorities and approved 3rd party organisations add video call access to their services as part of their ‘business as usual’, day-to-day operations. It is the only type of patient-facing video call approved by both the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland.

All people need to use Near Me is a suitable computer or mobile device with Chrome, Safari or Edge web browsers and an internet connection. Computer users will also need a webcam (usually built into laptops) and a headset or speakers.

We support Scotland’s use of the platform.
We can be contacted at vc.support@nhs.scot or 01224 816666.

It’s so simple…

Simple Near Me call flow

Service users

Callers can enter their own, individual waiting area via a link button on your website or a link you send them by email, text message or even letter. Once the caller is in their waiting area you can join them in a video call. There is a dedicated website for patients to get an idea of the system and offers them the opportunity to make a test call. If the patient does not have access to the necessary equipment or internet connection they can search for nearby locations where they can take part in Near Me calls.

Near Me also offers group calling, allowing around 60 callers to join together with their host(s).

Near Me calls run on the Attend Anywhere platform. Further details of the system can be found on the Attend Anywhere Resource Centre.
